Marlboro Township is still littered with brush after Hurricane Sandy destroyed hundreds of trees.
The Public Works Department announced this week that it will continue to loop around each zone of the township until debris from Hurricane Sandy is cleared.
According to a township email:
- Crews are still working in zones 1, 2, 4 and 6 and will stay in those zones until brush is cleared.
- Zone 5 pick-up will begin in approximately 10 days to 2 weeks.
- Zones 3, 7 and 8 are completed.
Leaves are being picked up along with brush as crews clear the roads, but storm debris is the first priority, according to a township email. Remaining leaves will be picked up after storm debris is cleared, weather permitting.
"In addition to the public works crews and vehicles, the township has contracted with 4 outside companies to address brush pickup and a 5th to handle chipping and disposal. Thirteen trucks and loaders, in addition to the public works vehicles, are picking up debris," Mayor Jon Hornik said in an email blast on Tuesday.
The recycling yard is open for bulk drop-off, no permit needed, until Dec. 8. The yard is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Must show proof of residency.
